Nordic walking
NORDIC WALKING IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET YOURSELF MOVING AND ENJOY A NEW EXPERIENCE.
Organisation and Registration
This activity involves different stages:
- Firstly, you are advised to have a medical check-up to assess your health. This must be done exclusively by a doctor from the "Exercise Medicine" group of Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc. To do this, please contact the secretary of the Department of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine by telephone or mail to make an appointment for “Medical Exercise”. If your state of health permits, the doctor will prescribe you 4 introductory sessions to Nordic walking so that you can familiarise yourself with the technique. These 4 sessions are invoiced as standard consultations and are partly reimbursed by your social security in Belgium (approximately 70%).
- Then, one physiotherapist from the Universitaires Saint-Luc oncology clinics will take over and train you in Nordic walking.
- Lastly, you can join group outings every wedneday between 09:00 am and 10:00 am and discover the green areas of Brussels together while out exercising. These outings are supervised by a physio and invoiced at 8,69€ per session outside the INAMI framework. Prior registration is required as well as a doctor’s letter certifying your ability to take part in this activity.
Equipment
The walking poles required for this activity will be lent to those who do not have any. You are strongly advised to wear good walking shoes or trainers. Clothing should be suitable for the weather.
